For number 9, were we not supposed to simplify with squares

Sir, at number 6 I grouped term 1 and 3 together and term 2 and 4 together. This is what my equation looked like:

3x^2y+12x^2-3y-12
=3y(x^2-1)+12(x^2-1)
=(x^2-1)(3y+12)
=(x+1)(x-1)(3y+12)

Is it still right?
