ANOVA: How it works

In this video I discuss how Analysis of Variance uses estimates of variances to test hypotheses about means. NOTE 1: In two of the formulae, you will see Xij with a bar over this term; this is an error (explained in the video) as it should be Xij (with no bar). NOTE 2: The formulas shown in the video are the definitional formulas. If you are doing ANOVA with a calculator (or similar), use the computational formulas, which you can find in any introductory statistics book, because they are easier in that situation.
