Does your baby or toddler scream or shriek in short bursts and it drives you batty? This video will tell you step by step how to stop babies or toddlers from continuing to make those short high-pitched, ear piercing shrieks or screams for good!

Babies and toddlers often love to hear the sound of their own voices ---so they let out a short scream or shriek, and that can be really annoying. But often it is to get attention, get what they want, or express that they are upset. Although this is understandable, it is one thing that can fray on the nerves of any parent...or anyone else who is around! That screaming and shrieking has to stop!

This video will tell you how to teach them to stop those shrieks and screams so you can keep your sanity... and your friends!

Excellent, I’m a granddad and full-time babysitter for my grandchildren. The one year old has started screaming on a regular basis. This info. may be what I need. Thanks

Thank you I’ve developed tinnitus in my right ear and it’s affecting everything else in my life to the point of depression. I needed this so bad thank you

These are solid tips. Thank you, ma'am. As a man whom was raised by the old physical force side of the fence, I am always working to rewrite my brain and teach my kids with love and not fear. Education like this changes lives.

When I looked up how to get my 11 month old to stop the high pitched squalling I fully expected to get some "gentle parenting" soft answer like "just connect with your child, they are communicating" 🤮

So happy to have come across your video instead. So practical and easy to implement. It's hard to "connect" with a screaming toddler who makes you want to rip your eardrums out. 🤣

Guess we're all here because we're half-deaf and half-dead.

Thanks for the tips. I just got home from the worst Walmart trip or my life: my 2 year old screeching his little head off for about 40 minutes straight and laughing at me when I try to tell him to stop. It set of my tinnitus. Parenting is hard!

I wrote previously in the comments
I’m writing this while on the verge of tears as it is soooo frustrating and difficult to deal with.
However I think I understand that satisfying her needs when she screams was the wrong thing to do.
That being said I feel like sometimes the screaming isn’t immediate and my husband and I were simply too slow to respond and she had to resort to screaming to get our attention.
Is giving her what she wants in such case just the fair and right thing to do?

Thank you so much for this! I followed your idea of putting my index finger on his lips and say “shh, no screaming “ and it stopped!!!

All I can say is you are a lifesaver. No one has content on this. My daughter's screams actually damaged my husband's hearing for 2 days. I'm going to try this approach. The only question I have is: won't the crib become a negative association with punishment for them? Kind regards and thank you!

Hey, very good video, I feel like I'll be coming back to this channel on a regular basis. What should I do as a parent that believes and is willing to try all the methods you have described, but whose partner feels it's all too harsh and it's just a phase and a one year old is too young to be polite so we might as well endure it? My wife has a tendency to always feel like anything is a form of child abuse, so in the end we end up doing what the kid wanted in the first place. I feel like we are failing as parents and she is learning all the wrong behaviors due to our fear to be too harsh. I am at my wits end and cant cope with the constant screaming anymore. Please help, thanks!

Havind read "The whole-brain child" by Daniel Siegel and Tina Payne and also currently reading "No drama discipline" based on neuroscience and child brain development, I just feel that the method given in this video lefts out the emotional validation part, where you really get to connect with the child and help them recognize and deal with their feelings. I'm not saying that this method is completely ineffective, but it could add the emotional validation part as this makes a huge different.

Omg thank you!! I feel bad because my toddler screams super high pitched in an excited way whenever she sees our cat, but it’s such a shriek and so bad I try to tell her no and that cats don’t like that, but she won’t stop… I don’t want to punish her for being excited to see her kitty but I have to get her to stop terrorizing him haha

Thank you! I work at a daycare and one of the babies does this all the time during breakfast and lunch but smiles when I use my stern voice to tell him no he screams for his bottle even though I’m walking to give to him. I have 4 kids but they didn’t do that screaming.

My 14 month old has been doing this since about 10 months old.. the brief research I’ve done has sent me down the rabbit hole of AUTISM 😢 we have naturally been doing some things that you have suggested and there are some new things that we are going to try. In your opinion do you think there is any link to the short sheiks and autism? For context he is our youngest child, was born at 34 weeks and he has 3 big sisters 8, 7 and 3 years old and they did not behave like this AT ALL so it’s all new to me 😭

I love your educational videos
You have a lovely way of explaining step by step and your voice is absolutely pleasant 💕💕💕
I have a 9 month old and without going into detail I moved in with my brother and his wife and they have a 2 year old
The boy doesn’t talk at all
Doesn’t say any words
He screams all day long
It’s the way he communicates
I don’t feel comfortable letting my 9 month old being in the living room because I know she gets constantly startled, scared, and even though maybe she’s entertained by the boy screaming and jumping I have noticed that now my baby starts screaming as well
My brother and his wife complain I keep my daughter in my room that I should let her socialize but the screaming is loud I mean high pitch extremely loud
Is that normal and would it affect my daughter? I don’t know how not to offend them that I rarely bring my daughter out of the room
But I can’t stand the screaming
