The island of Stroma sits in the Pentland Firth between Caithness and Orkney, This once thriving island now lays abandoned baa the sheep that still graze it. From a peak population of 375 in 1901 the population declined till in 1962 the last family left.

You did a good job, Gavin, but it just breaks my heart to see all the dirt and decay, rusting machinery, roofless houses, in what was once a close knit community. I lived there with my family till 1956, and have positive memories of those times, and this is so very sad.

Thank you for posting, my 5x great grandparents came from Stroma, their surnames were Anderson and Rosie

Watching with a family friend who's family lived on Stroma. They left Stroma in 1953. Thanks for the video from the Smith family.
