A new pay offer for train drivers is a “good deal for the taxpayer” because it will end strikes, a Treasury minister has said amid opposition claims it will result in higher fares or tax hikes.

The deal, which is to be voted on by the Aslef union, would include a backdated 5% increase for 2019 to 2022, 4.75% for 2022 to 2024 and a further 4.5% for 2024 to 2025.

Talk presenter Peter Cardwell joins Mike Graham to discuss this further.

Plenty of money for strikers, plenty of money for illegal immigrants, no money for pensioners who paid in all their lives.

Pay politicians less…?? Besides why do I need to support labour when they’re giving my pension and NHS contributions to illegals.

Love seeing pictures of these walkabouts. Reminds me of When I was working in the public sector, you knew all the people who were going to ‘meet’ the vips. Yes men and people not good at their jobs and could be spared without disrupting the service.

Pay everybody whatever they want, after all, it's not Labour's money. Five more years of this and we'll end up like Greece in 2008.

No point in having a booming economy if one can't afford to live!

When Sunak said that every family in the UK would be £2000 worst off under Labour, it was a gross underestimate.

If the employment is increasing why the mass migration?, why is G7 involed?, why the tax rises again? we all know why.

Very reminiscent of the the 1970s when it seemed everyone was on strike....power switch off as miners were on strike( twice) dockers on strike, sugar rationed, bread in short supply as grain couldn't be unloaded, bins not collected, people not buried. Labour party looked and acted like they were lost. At work, we started late and finished early due to power being switched off, TV would just go off as TV technicians were also on strike....happy days. Just joined the Common Market as it was called then before it became what it is today, country called the sick man of Europe and we deserved it but triggered by everyone wanting a pay rise .

11% for GPs but my GP works 3 day week in practice on £98, 000, then works at the hospital on £1000 hr via agency.

All the while adult social care is struggling, the care systems are struggling to keep staff due to low pay. Disgusting

This is totally ignoring that inflation has already hit prices at 11% last year. Those prices don’t come down, they now just go up slower. Everything has gone up permanently. Where does he live, just go to a supermarket the bill is frightening for a weeks general shopping.

Let's All Go On Strike and stop paying things that go to the government Pocket like council tax, lets all go camping on the Moore's for a few months and see how this establishment likes that,

ASLEF will always stuff the RMT and the public will have to pay . Pensioners suffer whilst drivers on an average of £57, 000 will be alright jack. Its NOT government money, its ours
