INSANELY DANGEROUS! - 1983 BATHURST But In MODERN GT3 Cars

The team at Reiza recently released a historic 1983 version of Mt Panorama, Bathurst for Automobilista two. This version does away with pretty much every safety measure present at the circuit today, as well as almost doubling the length of Conrod Straight, so I thought it would be really interesting to see what it would be like in a modern GT3 car!

Re James Hardie and asbestos. There was a JH factory just a kilometer from where I lived. They just left tailings out the back of the factory for decades.

My younger brother went and played in the asbestos rubbish, made igloos with the sheets that were in the open. He's 60 now, with no issues. Incredible (I'm 62).

Yes, a big class actilon. My local area was known to have a VERY high incidence of the asbestos-related lung disease. RIP those people and families affected.

The Bathurst race was called the James Hardie 1000 for years.

As a fellow 80s/90s kid (Born in 1981) I always tell myself "Oh that wasn't long ago" then I realize it's almost 40 years ago..ugh. Heck, I still think the early 2000s and 2010s were just a couple of years ago, lol.

Anyways, great video, I enjoyed hearing the commentary about a lot of the old sponsors there. It's very cool to see and learn about that as someone from the US.

Rover mowers were a different company to Rover the car manufacturer. I used to work for Rover mowers in Eagle Farm, Queensland in the 90s and the mowers used Briggs & Stratton engines.
