WHY THE BAND NAMES:
Black Box
The name Black Box was chosen by the Italian house music group as a reference to the mysterious and often misunderstood nature of their music production. The term “black box” is commonly used in technology and engineering to describe a system or device whose internal workings are not well understood or are hidden from view.
The Shamen
The name The Shamen was inspired by the concept of shamanism. Colin Angus, one of the founding members, had a deep interest in the mystical and spiritual practices of shamans, which influenced both the band’s name and their psychedelic sound.
Opus III
The name Opus III was adopted by the English electronic music group to signify a new chapter or “work” in their musical journey. “Opus” is a term used in classical music to denote a work or composition, and the “III” likely represents the trio of producers/musicians in the band.
