Basic Matrix Operations - Scalar Multiplication

In this video, we introduce scalar multiplication as a basic matrix operation, which is simply multiplying each of the elements in a given matrix by a constant.

We also introduce matrix subtraction, which can be done by as matrix addition, but multiplying the subtrahend matrix by -1.

We also explore the laws and properties of scalar multiplication in regards to associativity in scalar addition, matrix addition, and scalar multiplication.

Finally, we end the video by listing all of the laws of matrix addition and scalar multiplication
