How to Have More Faith

Do you want to have the type of faith that releases God’s fullest blessings on your life? That's what we're going to talk about today on the BEAT.

Hey what’s up everybody welcome back my name is Allen Parr and today we are talking about how to increase your faith. Our story today comes from Numbers 13 where Moses had sent 12 men to explore this land that God had already promised to give them. 10 out of the 12 came back and said, “The land is too FORITIFIED the people are like GIANTS in the land. There’s NO WAY that we can get that land!” But 2 of them said, “The land is OURS!” Today I want to share with you the secret to increasing your faith. And the first is…

1. REMEMBER God’s PAST faithfulness
a. God had done some AMAZING things in their past (Red Sea, water from the rock, clothes & shoes grew) (SCREEN: manna, battle victories, etc.). Had they had just remembered what God had done for them in the past it would have given them the confidence to trust God in the present.
b. So the next time your faith is tested go back and recount all of the times in your past when your back was up against the wall and your faith was tested and God delivered right on time (which is why you should write them down and keep a log. If you don’t do this you will yourself working yourself up into a frenzy every single time your faith is tested which could be every day.)

The second thing we need to do if we want to see our faith increase is to…

2. REJECT the thinking of negative PEOPLE
a. Notice here in verse 32 it says that these 10 spies “and they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored…” As a result the whole nation of 2 million Jews were filled with fear instead of faith. Why? Because they allowed themselves to be influenced by the 10 spies that had no faith rather than the 2 that did.
b. In the same way, if you surround yourself with people are who negative and struggle to trust God and have very few testimonies of seeing God’s power work in their lives, that negative thinking will influence you to live in fear rather than faith and you’ll miss out on what God had already intended to give you.
c. Instead, surround yourself with people who are where you believe you want to be. And let their contagious faith rub off on you and influence you to live in faith rather than fear.

The third and final thing we need to do to increase our faith is to…

3. RECOGNIZE God’s POWER
a. Notice here that the 10 NEGATIVE spies said, “WE can’t attack those people, they are stronger than WE are…”
b. But the 2 POSITIVE spies said, “If the LORD is pleased with us, HE will lead us into that land…and HE will give it to us.”
c. Many of us are like the first group of spies who only considered what THEY could do and totally disregarded God’s POWER.
d. And when you fail to recognize God’s power you will always struggle with your faith because in many situations your resources, your intelligence, your abilities, your influence and your connections will not be enough and you forget that God is involved and invested in our lives and has power beyond what we could imagine!

Now as a result the Bible says that this generation of Israelites did not receive the blessing of the Promised Land that God intended for them to receive because they had no faith. And in the same way as we transition into a new season there may be some blessings (opportunities, open doors, etc.) that God wants to release in your life and the only key that will unlock them is faith. So I want to encourage you to remember God’s past faithfulness in your life, reject the thinking of negative people and recognize God’s power and that you are not in your situation by yourself.

Brother Allen I wanted to share my testimony, when my mother and fiancee both passed awsy with in 3 months of each other. I was heartbroken but I always kept my faith because I knew Jesus would lead me through my darkest hour and guess what HE DID. Years later I decided to move to Las Vegas with small resources, I knew nobody I didn't have a place to live or a job. While I was on the train for 3 days I read my bible and praised that things would work out. I got to vegas and the stars aligned for me, God through my lord and saviour Jesus christ his son and my eternal Lord and Saviour blessed me not only to find one job I found 2 jobs. I found an apartment with furniture and a television set included with the apartment and had to pay No utilities. I believed but Jesus came throw for me more than I could have EVER asked for. When the bible says ask the father in jesus name God hears you. I give thanks to my father thou art in heaven through my eternal lord and saviour Jesus christ. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus christ is Lord now and forever.

One of the most commonly used verses by me when struggling with faith: Mark 9:24, when a father asks Jesus to help him to overcome his unbelief about Jesus's ability and willingness to cast demons out of his son. I need to go back to using that verse over myself. Bless you! :-)
All reading this, make sure faith is backed with godly wisdom. Faith is wise, not wreckless. Like, you can believe God will restore your liver so you do not need a transplant, but you don't want to keep on heavy-drinking, for instance.
