How to Remote Desktop with Raspberry Pi

In this guide I show you how to setup and access your Raspberry Pi using Remote Desktop. This means you can leave your Raspberry Pi headless with no keyboard, mouse or Monitor but still use the Pi's desktop interface.

Here's the notes for the various command lines you might need to Install xrdp server on Rasberry Pi:

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
sudo apt install xrdp
sudo systemctl status xrdp
sudo systemctl start xrdp

You're a lifesaver. I've been able to ssh into my Pi seamlessly so far but I've been stuck looking for different tutorials on how to remotely access the Pi desktop in GUI, and all the tutorials I found so far didn't work (they either used outdated methods or the remote access software they told us to download couldn't connect to the Pi). This is the first tutorial I found that actually worked for me.

installed, go to login with new user (some research told me the main user does not work, as only one is allowed to be logged in). Then i get a black screen, and it closes.

I followed all the steps successfully, but when I try to RDP into it (after putting in my credentials), I get a green screen.

Hi. This worked but the internet browser will not work. Worked fine before adding this. Just to dbl check I re downloaded the OS to the SD card and everything is fine till I add the xrdp and when I remote in or go the regular way with a monitor hooked to it the internet browser is broke. Doesn't mater if i try Firefox or chromium they both come up with a bunch of unreadable garbage on the screen. Any ideas as to why. And just to be clear the remote desktop works fine. Its just the Net Browser that is broke.

Hi i have connected to my raspberry pi using the RDC but it displays an old RPI screensaver and does not have the current Raspberry pi desktop and configuration. How do I get RDC to show my current Raspberry pi desktop?

Trying for the last week to get the Windows Remote Desktop (win10) to work with the Raspberry pi4.
At one time all worked, but did not recall what version or RPI i had installed. Tried, Bookworm, NO LUCK! then decided to go back in time, to Bullseye, still no luck, then today 2024-03-14, installed Buster, full install. Did exactly what you stated in the video. I'm able to get the desktop, into the RDC, with the image and Icon from the RPI4, but the mouse will not allow or should I say, execute any of the icons! I'm at a total loss! Any ideas?
