5 Favorite Basic Houseplants | Appreciating My Common Indoor Plants

I’m going to make this into a monthly series. Appreciate Your Basic Houseplants. I found myself having some plant envy and plant jealousy the other day, and I wanted to take a step back and appreciate the plants that I have right now. I’m happy the plant community is growing, but the craziness is also driving plants to be more and more inaccessible. I wanted to make sure that we don’t forget these beautiful ‘basic’ plants and to step back and have the perspective to appreciate what you do have and not focus so much on what you don’t have and that goes with everything in life, not just plants. Enjoy.

Take a moment and look around your place and choose 5 of your favorite basic houseplants you appreciate and let me know below which ones they are?

We always return to basics. Not only in plants, but in many aspects of life. 😊

I love this video. I always tell my friends that just because a plant is common does not make it less beautiful then others. I’m a lover of all house plants and believe they all need love. 🌱💚💚

I'm more interested in the growing process than the rarity of a plant. 2 leaves on a rare plant you bought for hundreds of dollars is nothing next to a full golden pothos or green philodendron.

Love your sense of humour and these skits at the beginning of your videos. 😂

The plants that you call “common” are really rare where i live in, so i envy your plants. We all have to be great full for what we have

I’m ONE minute In and I’m rolling bc this is so damn true everybody doing the most over rare plants just to post on Instagram and fb!! Crazy as hell don’t get caught up like everyone bc I even fell into it I imported 3 times this year spent thousands of dollars on plants the last 3 months and now I’m like wow I did all that for what really honestly they are beautiful don’t get me wrong but idc anymore about having all the rare plants it’s about the plants I really love having and I really love my hanging house plants more then anything and my strings of plants! They are easier to grow and so much less expensive! Take advice anyone who is caught up in the hype plz just don’t do it!! You end up more stressed out then anything honestly 💯

Plants are just plants. We’re the ones labeling them rare or not rare. I just enjoy them for their individual characteristics.

Nothing quite as beautiful as a healthy, happy, thriving plant, common or not.
I have a soft spot for sansevierias, they can make such a statement and so easy to care for. Spathiphyllum can be so lush and green too and many are easy to find pretty much anywhere. Two of my favourite common genus 😍

YAS with a capital Y!! This is what I have been thinking (and saying to myself) for a while, BASIC/CLASSIC plants are Appreciate them, love them, they've been loyal to us but for a while we've ignored them for the next best thing...and then the next...THEN THE NEXT WHEN DOES IT END!!! (never!!!) I may have to second this bidjo, CPG, you have inspired me AGAIN! Thank you for this video!!!

I love the advocacy. We need to stop comparing our plants into others collection. I love my plants and I believe that all plants are created equal.🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I love your honesty! Thank you for reminding me that keeping it basic doesn’t mean it’s any less exciting.💚😌

🤣. You might be envious of other plant tubers exotic plants but they should be envious of your inventive videos. You always come up with something out of the BOX 😂❣️. Some of those exotic plants are beautiful but I know I don’t have what it takes to keep them looking great. Love my Orchids, love my Christmas cactus ( never fails to bloom) and I love the little plants I get ( marble queen, crimson queen) I bought them in a 4 inch pot and I’m enjoying watching them grow 💞. You mentioned no one is really into Peperomia.?? You should do an interview with Nick Pileggi (Sorry I probably got his name wrong.) He has an amazing collection. ✌️

Your video's become funnier and more entertaining than ever before. What you say is true I have some common and less common but love my common a little bit more because I can experiment more with them because I didn't spend a lot on them and they can be so beautiful and rewarding too.

These basic houseplant videos are my favourite, I’m not into the hype of the rare plants, I love seeing all the really cool accessible ones. Thanks for the balance!

I love your creative intros! Thank you for reminding us to step back and appreciate what we have. It is definitely too easy to get caught up with what we don't have and forget what we do have.

I agree that basic plants are underappreciated. I have a fair number of plants in my house that are all common & they are lush and beautiful. Rare plants are great but I don't want the anxiety that comes with them for fear they won't survive after one has paid a lot of money for them. Plants are meant to give us joy.

Thank you so much for this video!! Your plants are absolutely GORGEOUS!! And YES, trying to keep up with the Joneses is sometimes one of the worst things to do in life, especially for your mental health, and pockets lol!!. And once you learn to be grateful for what you have, and what you "don't" you'll be much happier!!🌱💖🤗🙏🏼🙏🏼

Loved the video! You are so right! Sometimes we can get so caught up chasing what's new, or rare, or in fashion, that we completely lose sight of the beauty of simplicity! Thank you for always being so genuine in your videos, the plant community is lucky to have you <3
