Hi Jason I love when you return to the basics- I’ve been watching other fiddlers and classical players bow holds for a long time ...it’s amazing how many there are- Especially those well-known fiddlers who grip farther up the bow-your method is the most fail safe of all thanks again!

Many thanks! This was just what I needed. Not too out there at all. A great reminder that connection to music is connection to something bigger than ourselves.

I love this approach. I taught myself and got the bow hold wrong so am having to relearn but I love the meditative approach. Thank you for breaking it down so well.

Occasionally I play with French Canadian fiddlers who consciously work on keeping the wrist very high with the fingers dropped straight down. This adds another method of
producing short rapid strokes by rotating their wrists with little or no arm movement.
It works.

hi Fiddlehed! I'm new to your channel, but I had the 🔔on and yesterday I took the dust off my fiddle and I realized I had forgotten how to hold my bow! So, coming across this video was pretty on point. I liked your idea of awareness and meditation through coming back to the basics. I've been into breathwork during the pandemic so it seems like a nice idea💙. My teachers used to tell me I should breathe in between phrases, too, so I think that if a pro knows better, I'm giving it a chance this time!

I've got a question, it's about the upper part of the bow, and how the wrist moves. I feel like it's inevitable that the bow turns a little outwards, and I've been confused about that. My arms are kinda short for the bow lol so I can't reach very easily the last part 🤔 🙈 but yeah it's about how the wrist flexes on the end.. how should we do it?

Thank you for the content, I loved the rhythm ideas you gave in one of your previous vids!
