" We really liked the tree house that we rented for four days. We felt comfortable and safe in the house. The fireplace heated the house well, and the wooden beam walls retained heat for a long time. Outside at that time there was a severe frost and a snowstorm. Allison and I had dinner and then settled down on the floor by the fireplace to just chat and drink some delicious berry tea. The sound of the snowstorm was coming into the house, which created a special cozy atmosphere. After that, we got ready for bed. Allison was already in bed, reading a book. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and also went to bed. At that moment, I remembered what Rebecca (the owner of the house) had told me earlier. She told us where the firewood, water, and other necessary things were. She also emphasized that the ladder we climbed up to the house had to be lifted up, especially at night. I remembered her instructions and went to the hinged door in the floor to do so. I pulled the latch back, then pulled the heavy wooden door aside, but to my surprise, the ladder was gone. But how? I was shocked, where was the ladder? The open door was letting in a lot of cold air, so I closed it again. Allison realized something was wrong. She asked what was wrong, and I told her about the missing ladder. I hadn't put the ladder up since Rebecca left the cabin, it should have been hanging down, but it wasn't there. I opened the door in the floor again, and Allison and I were again convinced that there was no ladder. But when we began to peer at the snow-covered ground, we saw a slight relief from the ladder in the snow. It turned out that the ladder had fallen down and was covered with snow. We were shocked because the height of the tree house was significant and it was almost impossible to just go down. We were locked in and wondering how we could get down to get the ladder. Luckily for us, the little house had everything we needed to live there for about two weeks - water, food, firewood... But that didn't solve the problem. We decided that we needed to go to bed and think about how to solve this problem in the morning. That's what we did. I closed the door with the latch and we lay down under the blanket. Allison and I were very tired from such a busy day, and so we fell asleep very quickly and sweetly. " To be continued...
