As a 38 yo male, I've been struggling with this my entire life. I was diagnosed as ADHD at 8 and never took meds. I have been hurt and insulted for how I am and to find someone who actually gets it. I cant tell you how much it helps. I cried happy tears for these vids as they get me.. in all of 30 years they finally get me.

Whenever someone asks me about an interest I always give a basic, noncommittal, easy answer first and then say something like “I could go into it more but you probably don’t want that haha” and usually the convo moves on but if they encourage me I give them one more out like “you sure cause I can go on for a while” and if they still insist then they’re in for the whole thing

I met someone at graduation practice for high school. While we waited, I talked for about an hour about yarn, fiber types and their differences, knitting versus crochet, etc. They’re currently living with me.

I once invited an ND to do just this. After a 15 minute story about bison burgers and her son, I calmly pointed out that the whole story could have been boiled down to "I was moving my stove and the glass door broke." We both had a good laugh.

My wife and I drove three hours to visit her parents yesterday. I talked the whole trip about lingerie marketing theory and strategy (I work as a marketing analyst) all because she played me a song and I couldn't think of anything else.

Three hour impromptu lecture she didn't ask for.

Lol this be me. The funny thing is I can sit and ramble about astronomy for hours but anything else is nearly impossible to do for even a half hour. It can be frustrating but also a stress reliever to have someone to just sit by u and make u feel like they care or they actually listen.

Hahaha, I'm the quiet type and sometimes struggle keeping casual conversation but I'm a good listener and love to learn new things so I actually really enjoy when I stumble upon someone super passionate about something and they want to talk about it for a long time!
