An air cooled #chiller has 4 components namely Evaporator, Compressor, Condenser, Expansion valve. And there are 2 main loops in an air cooled chiller. Refrigerant loop wherein the heat is transferred from the evaporator to the condenser. Chilled water loop wherein unwanted heat from the building is collected. This is how it works. 1. Chilled water is supplied to the Air Handling Unit (AHU) and FCU. 2. Return air from the building passes through the #AHU cooling coil and it loses heat. 3. And then, the cool air is supplied to the building. 4. The chilled water collects this building heat and returns to the evaporator. 5. This building heat is transferred from the evaporator to the condenser via the refrigerant loop. 6. In an #AirCooledChiller (unlike a water-cooled chiller), a fan blows air across the condenser. The heat transfer process changes the refrigerant from hot vapor into the cooler liquid in the condensing coil.
