SKÁLD | Yggdrasill (Lyrics & Translation)

The lyrics are composed of lines from “Völuspá” (stanzas 19) and “Grímnismál” (stanzas 34 and 35). The lyrics are mixed up in a weird way, and some lines were cut halfway and reprised in another point, leaving to half-sentences standing alone, resulting quite meaningless. E.g. at 0:19, “ausinn” (“sprinkled”) is supposed to be linked to “hvíta auri” (“with white clay”) at 1:05. As a stand-alone, these two lines don’t mean much.

I know a transcription in runes of such a text doesn’t really have any reason to be, if not as a treat, but yeah…that’s just what it is, bear with me.

Any suggestion and/or observation is warmly welcome.

The lyrics are pronounced as modern Icelandic, instead of using Old Norse pronunciation: e.g. they sing [ll] with its Icelandic pronunciation /tl/, instead of a simple /ll/, while sometimes (not always) letter [æ] is pronounced /œ/ (like in the word “grænn”), instead of simply /æ/.

I have Swedish and German ancestry, and am thankful to have stumbled across this. I am in the process of making my own Rune set. Great song/poem!

Storytime!
Was never much of a believer. I recently hit my lowest because I'm alone in an unknown place where I simply don't belong, far from home and the only person who kept me from falling just betrayed and left me.
Sad and Broken I searched for something, ready to change.
I tried to find Salvation for years in something.
I read the bible and a bunch of differnent stuff. Asian religions didn't do it for me either.
But as soon as I got my Hands on norse mythology, like not just fan based as all those years before but rather for real reading the stories and everything, something just clicked.
I feel more bravery than ever before, I don't feel weak or alone anymore.
I'm currently working on a Prayer that I want to translate into old norse.

Whoever reads this can call me crazy, I wouldn't blame anyone for calling me crazy.
I just found something that I have been looking for for years, somwhere I belong, something I am willing to trust and believe in.

I don't want to come off culturally insensitive. This may just be an actual ruin somewhere in Scandinavia, however I must ask. Is that Bleak Falls Barrow?

I am a decendant of the ancient ones. Greatly appreciate the spiritual conduit this group provides. True to the soul and spirit with no choice but to lead u unto Valhalla and the presence of Odin.

Räven by Hedningarna????
I really love Skald but this is basically identical to the song i mentioned above... so does anyone know, is there a traditional song at its base or simply pure imitation..?? Cause again, i really don't want to think so.

After watching the Video and reading the Comments I feel pretty good about.

My pronunciation of old Norse is better than that of the Singers and I might not be too shabby at Icelandic pronunciation.

Okay so maybe that wasn't the Intention of the Singers and so on.

It is a Good combination of old Norse Poetry and modern Musik in spite of the weakness of pronunciation.
