The Different CAT Cable Types - Understanding the Differences Between Cat5, Cat6, Cat7, and Cat8 Cables.
Cat5, Cat6, Cat7, and Cat8 are categories of twisted pair cables with different specifications for data transmission speeds and frequencies. Cat5 cables have the lowest performance, while Cat8 cables offer the highest performance. Data transfer speeds and frequencies also depend on the quality of the cable and the equipment it's connected to and which cabling would be best for your project?

CAT Cable Difference
When it comes to data cabling - what is the difference? It’s hard to know which cable to go for. They all deliver unique results for even the most complicated projects. Due to the increasing implementation of 10 Gigabit networks within the workplace in not only backbone links but also 10Gig to the desk the legacy cabling systems of Cat5e and Cat6 are now phasing out in newer installations

CAT Cable Types - Cat5e Cat6 Cat7 Cat8 data cabling
A data cable consists of 8 copper wires with a single cable sheath. This data cable provides electrical signal transmission between two devices
The termination ends of the data cable are standardised to create a common connector. Especially for all patch leads, patch panels and data termination plugs. Furthermore the high categories of cabling these connectors have kept the outline of the standard and evolved into additional contacts for faster transmission speeds

Data cabling is used for connecting separate elements of a network to a common hosting hardware such as a data switch or internet router.

Cat 8 Cabling
Although not commonly seen in the commercial environment and mainly only in data centres. Even so Cat 8 cabling is being developed increasingly rapidly and has already achieved transfer speeds that hit 40Gbps and a bandwidth capability of 2000MHz. However, due to its channel length, cat 8 cables have a 30m limit and are unable to maintain 40Gbps over longer distances. In that case it makes it difficult to incorporate cat 8 cables into long stretches within large networks. In this situation, cat 8 cabling is more recommended for connecting short distances in networks.

Yeah, I’ve had Cat8 for almost a year. It’s the best cable to get the most of fiber optic running at 3 Gigabit or higher.

Very good video but in my opinion go with CAT 8 especially if you’re a gamer or streamer.

Thanks for this explanation,
I really need it,
since I work in a Data Center

What is the physical difference? The same gauge wire, same number of wires. How is it faster when it seems identical in construction? The quality of copper?

If you say a list of the variants once more, I shall send the boys round to do you a mischief. The script and music to this must qualify as the most irritating and unhelpful seen recently. Do better.

I loved the video!!! It's very useful!!!
Although I think I know the answer I want to make a question. Are you suggest me to connect my VDSL modem to my router with a 5m. Cat8 cable or less category? The distance between the two of them are 5meters.

Good video, helped me (non-techy) figure out the best cable to buy for my application. I feel like this video would have been better with a real human voiceover, though. The automated voice is kind of hard to follow.

i was getting good speeds on my 67mb fibre contract. when full fast fibre came to my area i upgraded to 500mb, now im getting 15-45mb with the same CAT 8 cables and tp links. i spoke to BT customer service and theyre telling me to replace all my cat 8 cables with cat 5e and 6e cables. does this make any logical sense?

Is a CAT8 cable recommended for NAS systems like Synology? I really need high transfer speeds because of big files.

So what is best for home security cameras to prevent lag and allow mic conversation to be clear without static. 4k uhd 1080p with 8mg camera with nvr of 8x with smart detection motion, people, cars, and experiencing lag and record time to be off when following the sequence of the movement. I was provided cat5E however, it is not acceptable. I have 200 mbps subscription for internet. 30 meters is fine so should I got to 6, 7, or 8? Thank you for your time and response in advance.
