Well if you can 3d print one of those machines, at least it means that you can print your own spare parts, which may reduce the operation costs, as long as you are ok with the limitations

Wow! I would love to see more of this printer!!! A detailed look at the prints it can produce would be great to.. would seriously consider building one myself if it can print to a reasonable quality and is somewhat dependable...

That's genius, printed linear rails are so cool to watch! I was wondering where RepRap went, I've heard about the project at random 3d printing event in the coworking here in Kyiv in 2011 or 2012, but back then decided to wait and haven't got into 3d printing until 2021. Sort of expected 3d printed printers to be more common.
In theory, a textured bed can be printed with PEEK. Not sure if it would work cold even with adhesives though.

Das ist ja der Wahnsinn. Mega cool und innovativ! Eigentlich der Traum eines jeden Makers: den nächsten Drucker einfach selber drucken.

Mit steiferen Materialien (Kohlefaser verstärktes PETG, PA) und weiteren Iterationen ist das Projekt ja nie zuende und man kann selbst entscheiden, wie weit man dies treibt.

Amazing project. Ever since I first heard of the reprap idea I've been enamored with concepts like these. Sure, it's not exactly the same performance you'd get out of ball screws and hiwin rails, but it's the principle that matters: The barrier for entry, at least regarding the necessary specialized hardware, is getting lower and lower, and I think that's pretty neat.
