Just a tiny touch of glue for me and then ultimately some top end because I can’t quite do mix yet bright enough. I always mix dull! I’m getting better though

It's crazy...I just said this very thing on the FB group answering a question...just a tickle is right.

It's not just a case of slapping a limiter on the output..

There are techniques for using one -

Firstly, it shows you where the combined layered transients occur. This lets you go back to the mix and fix those issues with bit more

Then, you take off the limiter before sending the track to a mastering engineer (like myself!) and it gives you an overall better outcome.

Yeah a beautiful one to hear, a friend asked me same question and I told Him yes I do, He and it depends on you are able to deal with it, and I some people don't know the way out of it. Thanks for sharing this..

Most FL Studio beginners mix into a limiter unaware

I cant afford a mastering engineer, so i'll be one of the greats and mix hot into a limiter.

For myself? No. It's only detrimental. All the justifications for this can easily be addressed by using different sorts of processors, and sometimes not even on the 2bus.

got into a 'lil scuffle recently with the Radium Records guy over this 😆

I like this, 'cause I can mix just a more aggressively without having to rebalance everything if something starts clipping, which lets me trust my instinct a little more without worrying -- and it's a safety net so I don't blow my ears out if I've accidentally set a fader too high without realizing

I might try this because I'm sick of getting to a mastering stage and all the treble sounds jump out and I have to remix anyway. I'm probably doing something wrong somewhere but hey ho.

So why pay them all the money to NOT touch things? I get it.. A good mix doesnt require alot in mastering. So why charge $1000s of dollars for the minimal work?

If you need a limiter in your mix you’re doing something wrong

10-20dB 😂 destroying the mix…then shouting from the hilltops that I just mastered my song 🙄

First, take a sine wave, then put a distortion on it, then, put a clipper on it, then put another clipper on it straight to a brickwall limiter...and Bobs your uncle.

If you feel like you’re at that level?

Crikey, fella. Don’t you know we live in a Dunning Kreuger world?

80% of your listeners think they are at that level. And the irony is, the 20% who don’t think they are at ‘that’ level include 1-5% who are. And there’s maybe 1% of the total viewers who both think they are and actually are.
