Mowing down last year's perennial bed growth is a task I always look forward to in early spring because it means that spring is right around the corner. Here's how I do it and the things I look for!

From my farm to your home. 🏡

A farm is much more than a house to live in; it’s a lifestyle. My passion for gardening and landscaping came from outdoor work with my mom in our expansive farm yard, my love for baking came from innumerable short walks to my grandma’s house to make cookies, and as a farmer, my dad taught me that we are the stewards of our land.

So whether you live in a city center or have decided rural life is for you, I hope to inspire you with the projects and recipes I use in daily life. We can’t all live on a farm, but we all need farms in our lives. From the dirt in my vegetable garden to the flour in my kitchen, I’ll show you everything I love to do.

Just FYI: The spots on my nose and face are from a few benign spots that my dermatologist wanted to remove. I'm healthy, with nothing to worry about!

Greetings from Kentucky - your mentioning that you use leaves in your beds for mulch motivated me to offer how I use raked leaves: collect them with a metal rake which gives the grass a light thatching; then gather the leaves and grind them with my blower/vacuum. The ground up leaves make a great natural mulch which filters into the soil faster than unground leaves.

I love how you call out the names of all the perennials just like a teacher doing class roll call. I can imagine each plant saying, "Yes, I am here." I like your natural approach to gardening, Kaleb.

Thank you for this video. I am 74 and I can't do things like I used to. I love seeing you mow off your border. Last year I used 70 bags of mulch on my garden. I want to cut that back drastically. I would love to see how your garden grow through the summer. I saw your videos last year and your garden is beautiful.

I don’t garden at all because of HOA rules, but I love following your garden throughout the year. ❤

I like your method. Some gardens are too large to mulch every last bed. For me it’s a monetary issue as well. 😊

I see you’ve been to the dermatologist. That’s so good to take care of yourself. I love your method. It’s how things grow kind of a nature too.
