Also, A few notes.

1 ) The Chell rig has a terrible face. there are no emotional controls or even blinks. Additionally the eyes will lock up at bad angles. this severely limited the shots I could use without her looking like a freakshow. bummer that, but wider shots are good too.

2) The companion cube. it's not charred, because no charred cube exists within the assets. If I had one, I'd have used it, but since this was just a small quick project I left it out. The size however IS Correct. thats how big it truly is, though it looks smaller in your hands. If you got a problem with the size of it, take it up with valve.

3) Chell doesn't take the portal gun with her when she leaves the testing facility. This is True. However my original intention with this was to have her wake up at the end of the video at the start of portal 2, in the hotel room the whole thing having been a motivating dream. I decided late on to leave this open ended, but it was an intentional choice and not an oversight.

4) As some of you have pointed out, the animation is wooden at times. I'll totally cop to that, I'm pretty new to animating from scratch, but to be honest, and this is a real cop out answer, I wasnt' really focusing on animation fidelity with this. I mostly wanted to get the thoughts down and put this out, so that I could get back to working on my real, primary project. That other project, is where I'm putting all my love and polish. This one was just to rip through and get the thought out of my head.

Good God, poor Chell. Left centuries after humanity has been seemingly wiped out all alone, her one real friend left floating through space, somebody give this girl a hug before she gets us all depressed...

well, chell isn't deaf.  in the game you can hear GLaDOS talking.

Wow. Just imagine being Chell in that situation. You're most likely never going to see another human being again, and that must be the worst feeling. (Portal 2 takes place 50, 000 years after Portal 1, and I doubt that the human race outside of Aperature would ever survive that long)

Chelle isn't deaf, one of the creators has stated that he felt she didn't talk because she refused to let the situations in the game get to her.

Chell isn't deaf Valve even said so. shes upset and angry so she refuses to say a word to GLaDOS or anyone.

Great animation and Story, but quite a few mistakes. Also good choice for using Exile as the music.

1. After Chell escapes, she doesn't have a Portal gun. Her Portal gun was sucked into space along with Wheatley and another core. You can also see as she rises to the surface she has NOTHING in her hands.

2. The companion cube at the end of Portal 2 was burnt, suggesting it was her original one from Portal 1 (The one she was forced to incinerate).

3. The companion cubes and weighted storage cubes aren't that big. Doug Ratman in the LAB RAT comic carrying a companion cube on his back proves how big it really is.

Hits like a bullet to the heart. It hurts to watch this, so sad. she (for now) is alone, no one else to see or find only to find a picture of herself. MAY CHELL FIND someone else because this HURTS.

Chell will surely find other people, after the events of Portal 2.  Somewhere.  The fact that the Earth is still there at all and in observably good shape topside proves that Gordon Freeman and company must have eventually defeated the Combine.

Oh... and there's also the little fact that she emerges onto a field of planted wheat.  Wheat fields like that don't happen naturally.
