Margaret Pole was hacked to death because Henry the viii was a psycho. He was mad at her son and took it out on Margaret . She was in the Tower of London for many yrs. Then one night in the middle of the night she was dragged kicking and screaming from her bed fighting all the was to the executioners block and even then they tried to hold her down when the executioner try to cut off her head her with the ax he missed and got her on the shoulder she got up and ran as the executioner chased her down hacking away at her. She was 76 yrs old . Henry the VIII was a very sick man .

And these people went around the world calling the people they encountered "savages".

The cruelty of past punishments is totally inhumane.

Margaret Poole of Salisbury,
was the mother of Cardinal
Poole. Her son was (quite naturally) critical of Henry VIII
treatment of his wife Queen Catherine. Henry couldn't do anything to Cardinal Poole because he was in Rome.
So (being a spiteful bastard)
he executed the Cardinal's
elderly mother instead.
Another reason Henry killed
her, was because she was the
last living member of the Plantagenet dynasty. Which made Henry extremely uncomfortable. The only reason he was king, was because the two Princes in the tower had been (very conveniently) murdered. 🤨

Yeah, and Margaret was also the last Plantagenet, so she was a threat to the Tudor dynasty.

Henry VIII was a tyrant who wanted to ensure his dynasty by any means possible. Margaret Pole was his own flesh and blood. It took multiple strikes with the ax because she attempted to dodge the executioner! He literally had to chase her down.

See how barbaric those people are? Even if a crime is committed the crime against the perpetrator is more horrific. Those people were simply barbaric...AND still are...

Wish they would make a movie on Margaret Pole. Her story is far more film worthy than most others. All that she encountered and survived. After they executed her brother, she should have gone far from her cousins hands. 😢 Amazing she made it to the age she did.

Richard didn't poison them on purpose. It was a case of bad food. Henry had him killed because Henry was a psycho.

Margaret Pole was the last Plantagenet and refused to be called a traitor. Instead of submitting to the block she ran around the stage and the executioner had to chase her and swipe with the axe when he had the opportunity. Must have been worse than usual to watch. The axe men were often not very good at the job, perhaps deliberately in many cases.

One should see what the Catholic church did to those who didn't follow it's ways. Another part of history that's never spoken about.
