How Did Coruscant Literally Become Hell After The Fall of The Empire?

Coruscant really did not have a good time after the death of Palpatine. As imperial warlords vied for power with one another and the New republic, the planet was decimated. But it did not end there. During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, they took Coruscant as their home planet, terraforming it with ferocious animals and plants which preyed upon the citizens. After the Vong's defeat, reconstruction efforts were made by giant droids. However, these droids accidentally cut off many levels from the surface, dooming billions to eternal darkness. If it wasn't already bad enough, the entity known as Abeloth showed up on the planet, driving many to insanity with her psychic force powers. To top it all off she set off supervolcanoes on the planet, vaporizing billions.

Back on the Old Republic era (acording to SWTOR), Coruscant was already hanging by a thread. On the high spires no one notices, but there were already rebellions, droid cults, and there were scientists fearing the tectonic plate shifts and vulcanic activity beneath the city

Coruscant is probably the main piece of evidence that proves Lucas didn't totally despise the EU, as the planet was first introduced in the 1990s Thrawn Trilogy. Lucas liked the planet so much that he even added it to the 1997 special edition of Return of the Jedi, before the prequels came out. That said, I wonder what EU fans felt while watching in 1997 how Coruscant was incorporated into the original movies
