Maharashtra is one of the key states responsible for the BJP's failure to secure a majority in the recent elections. In light of the poor performance, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis offered to resign. The BJP's tally in Maharashtra plummeted from 23 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to just 9. The party's allies also struggled, with the Shinde Sena securing 7 seats and Ajit Pawar's NCP getting only 1.

The NDA's overall count in Maharashtra fell to 17 out of 48 seats, a significant drop from the 41 seats won in 2019. In contrast, the I.N.D.I.A alliance captured 30 seats. The split in Shiv Sena and NCP factions did not resonate well with voters, who favored the original Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) over the breakaway groups aligned with the BJP.

The Congress party made a notable comeback in Maharashtra, increasing its seat count from just 1 in 2019 to 13. It managed to reclaim several seats lost to the NDA in 2014. In Mumbai, where the NDA had won all 6 seats in 2019, it secured only 2 this time, with Piyush Goyal's Mumbai North being the only comfortable victory for the BJP. The BJP's losses were further exacerbated by the discontent of the Maratha community over reservation issues, particularly affecting their performance in Marathwada.

BJP workers are not focused in their individual contributions to the people in many constituencies but solely depend on Modi's wave. This is my personal observation. Modi alone can't do the whole thing.
