thank you so much! this worked. my black ink is in sufficient level as displayed in the printer but it only prints black outline of the text. i tried cleaning the printhead with a tissue and a small amount of alcohol on it. i rubbed the printhead on the top of the tissue until the black ink is bold and visible without crack lines before putting it again inside the printer.

It definitely worked for me! I have the HP 704 Ink Cartridge and i haven't been printing for at least 3 years. This hack helped.

Same problem with my color cartridge. Ink is still there. Print job executes but nothing gets printed in paper when it comes out.

Once you get your new one. Replace the sticker after every use and place the cartridge in an air tight container in a cool place in your house. I think this will keep it from drying out between uses. I defiantly didn't use all of the ink from my last one.

I have this printer. It's the worst printer of all time. It's now been discontinued. It hardly EVER is able to connect through wifi or usb to print and on top of that, the ink lasts me printing about 5 sheets of paper before it runs out and I have to buy another cartridge for $30 CAD. No joke. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER.
