Fun fact. Crested geckos do in fact drink from water bowls I observe mine doing it fairly often

I give all my Gecko's a water bowl and mist. I wash all of the water bowls every other day. Ever feel the inside of the water cup or bowl after a couple days? They get real slimy. Important to wash the whole bowl.

Nice video :) I just have a couple thoughts ...

Another way to keep your crestie from being directly on their substrate is to use plenty of leaf litter, which you should be doing anyway if you have a bioactive setup. The leaves create a nice layer for the gecko to walk on.

I don't agree with the supplements part - if you're feeding them a good complete gecko diet like Pangea or Repashy, they're getting all the nutrients they need from those. Obviously if they like bugs, there's no harm in dusting them with supplements, but some geckos aren't interested in insects.

I think observing your gecko's individual personality is very important in determining things like enclosure height and width - mine are almost never on the ground, so I feel it's more beneficial for them to have more height than floor space, whereas some geckos might be the opposite.

I definitely recommend always offering a small water bowl, because all my cresties have drunk from them despite being misted every day. I don't think it's too rare of a behavior.

I'd love to get a chahoua gecko one day. Saw one a month ago at my local reptile show and fell in love. They're kind of the middle gecko between a gargoyle and a leachie.

I got a crested gecko a while ago and realized very soon it wasn't the right lizard for me, so I let a friends sister adopt him.
I studied the spiecies before getting it, watched videos and then I felt ready.
What I couldn't read into would be my acctual reactions, he was very skittish and often he got scared and ran away. Every time he made a sudden movement like that I got startled and twitched too and after a while it was like he senced trouble every time i went in to do some spraying or fill up new food. I realized it wasn't going to work out and he would be better off somewhere else. I asked around a couple of friends who are in to reptiles and quickley found someone who would be better suited for him than me, so she adopted him.

I'm positive that most native crested geckos are found on the forest floor. Also, they can drink from the water bowl!

My little crestie loves her cork round. She sleeps on the ground underneath it during the day. It’s kinda cute cause she is all rolled up when you find her lol. I usually heavy mist once a day and let it dry out during the day wich has been fine. For the babies I find it easier to put them in a shoe box plastic container with paper towels. Easier to track there bm and monitor humidity
