4 generations of my family worked on the Bell Ranch. My Dad helped with the chuck wagon. I have a picture of one of the Bell cooks, Hamp.

I went to Spanish Springs Dude Ranch in nor cal and got to listen to some cowboy poetry, riding trails, and sleeping under the stars.
Best time I've ever had in my life.
"Tying knots in the Devils tail" is a good poem.

Listening to stories from old folks is the best. I love the knowledge they have

My grandpa is a Texan, my grandma a Mexican, I grew up eating what they ate. Beans, beans, tortillas, more beans, Chile and beans

My great-grandfather was a cowboy. I'm so fortunate that he wrote down a small book of stories of his cowboy days. I wonder if he ever camped at the camps where you later cooked.

Kent and Shannon, I hope that you get back towards Houston soon. I'd love to see what you do with our seafood and Tex-Mex. The last time you had a book tour set up Covid hit. C'mon back our way. You have a lot of fans down here.

Often I think, Kent has one of the best jobs in the world. But, also one of the toughest.

A bit off subject but, I was wondering if you have a Tater Salad recipe??? Had some "loaded" Tater Salad from Wal-Mart, and then I read the ingredients. No Bueno...
