I went to Spanish Springs Dude Ranch in nor cal and got to listen to some cowboy poetry, riding trails, and sleeping under the stars.
Best time I've ever had in my life.

My grandpa is a Texan, my grandma a Mexican, I grew up eating what they ate. Beans, beans, tortillas, more beans, Chile and beans

My great-grandfather was a cowboy. I'm so fortunate that he wrote down a small book of stories of his cowboy days. I wonder if he ever camped at the camps where you later cooked.
