A touching video has emerged of an elderly man visiting an island he was marooned on for over a year as a child one last time before he died.

In 1965, Kolo Fekitoa and five friends were stranded for 15 months at Ata Island, Tonga.

In an extraordinary story of human survival that sounds straight out of Lord of the Flies, the six boys became stranded after they stole a 25 foot whaling boat but were shipwrecked following a storm.

Managing to survive adrift for days without water, it was on the eighth day that they spotted the island.

I wonder if it looked smaller than it used to when he was young. I come back to this story every couple years. So amazing.

That experience must have made a big impact on his life forever changing him from a child into a new man, God bless him.

the native people were relocated in the 1860s after Peruvian slavers kidnapped many, they were taken to another Togan island . Their dependents still want to resettle, but as there is no harbor it makes it uneconomic . Those chickens and the Taro came from them, the native people .

Wow. That’s so crazy. I wish I could watch how it all went. Obviously I’m sure it was a very tough time for them but it’s so amazing that they survived together the way they did. I wish I could’ve seen it some how lol

You know, This gave me hopes for people who are lost for a long time, maybe they are stranded in island. We just haven’t got a chance to look for them. Maybe they are not dead.

Once in a life time experience and tbh, I would do it. The experience must have felt so amazing and free as teenagers apart from the fact one broke his leg

Any Tongan children that age group will easily servive, they will know how to, the only scary thing is not knowing where they were, and how to get back home.

That island was inhabited by Tongan, until the white men kidnap them as slave,
I would love to live there, far away from the corvid-19 the safest place to be, would be nice.
