Shouldn't the oil pump have a chain and not a rubber belt to avoid these chunks breaking off and clogging and causing failure ?? and is it same for the 2.0L ecoboost or does that oil pump have a chain drive ?

my engine in my focus died over this oil pump last week, this issue is officially getting recalled next month. at this point ford should just have a buyout instead of messing with these engines and put an end to this and get owners into a more reliable vehicle although i will never own another ford after this ever again.

My wife has a 2018 EcoSport and it ran and handled beautifully up until the oil pump went out.😢
Ford dealership said we would have to replace the engine that there was no repairing the oil pump.
Cost 💲 $7500. 😡

That’s great. I didn’t realize they would think about replacing the pump and not the belt. That would be shitty and stupid which describes most mechanics I know.

bearings are already bad with this much restriction in the oil pump pick-up, new engine, my recommendation would be to buy a new toyota

The 3.0 duramax has a belt driven oil pump just another engine designed to fail i just don't understand these engineers would place a belt that lives in hot oil 🤦🏿‍♂️what was wrong with a chain or better yet gear driven oil pump beside cost

Oil pump belt lol? Might have been an ok idea if that belt wasn't in the crankcase with oil sloshing all over it haha.

That's just cheap and lazy engineering...
