Track 4/10 from Interloper (Leftfield Records LFTFLD08, originally released on Ultimae).
If you are just a bit into downtempo and acid ambient sounds, this track was most likely unavoidable in your explorations, as Supersede could be the perfect illustration for that genre.
A heady melody, a deep and moving 4x4 beat to keep us awake, and a neat use of reverberation to picture endless moving landscapes, that's basically what I think of this track.
The first half makes me think of a fantastic landscape at night, illuminated by the stars and the moon from the skies, and roamed by fantastic creatures like multi-coloured fireflies or peaceful glowing mammals, all living their lives independantly from the others.
But they start to notice your presence at 4:00, and somehow wants to welcome you in this imaginary and beautiful world made of red and blue shades. First curious about you in the interlude, they sense your kindness and express themselves as the guitar riffs arrive in Supersede, expanding the landscape out of sight and making all the living creatures glow together at 100 bpm.
But as always, this kind of situation is only as enjoyable as it is ephemereal, but hopefully, each listening will bring them back for an other turn.
