If you’re passing through on a short layover, here’s how to see London and its main attractions on the cheap in less than 24 hours.

On our return flight to the U.S. from Copenhagen, Audrey and I stopped in London for an overnight stay which afforded us the opportunity to see Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, London Tower Bridge, London Eye, Buckingham Palace all within a couple of hours.

Watch this video to see how we did it and how you can make the most out of a short excursion to London in the United Kingdom and see all the top things to do in London.

Wembley is way too far from central London, so if more than a layover avoid it! And that was Tower Bridge you sang London Bridge song to LOL.... 90% of tourists make that mistake to be honest.

The ride from Heathrow Airport to central London (Paddington Station) on the Heathrow Express train takes 15 minutes...and the train leaves every 15 minutes. From there you could have taken the subway to Wembley which would have taken half an hour. I think you confused the Heathrow Express train with the subway? The subway goes from London all the way to the airport but stops at every station along the way and that can take 1.5 hours.

4:50 Uber driver talking crap! 😂 The properties owned by The Crown Estate are centred around Regent Street and Buckingham Palace. The area is about 10-15% of central London. That’s not to say that it isn’t worth much coz London is one of the most expensive real estate places in the world. To give you an idea: London has 32 Boroughs (or neighbourhoods). Just 3 of the most expensive ones (Mayfair, Knightsbridge and Chelsea) are worth more than Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland put together.

The London Black Taxi Cabs are way more equipped than your average Uber driver: Black cabbies must study some 320 routes and 25, 000 streets and get to know them all by heart.

They also memorise roughly 20, 000 landmarks and places of public interest, from tourist destinations to museums, parks, churches, theatres and schools.

The process of getting your license to become a black cab driver typically takes between two and four years to complete and has been described as like having an atlas of London implanted into your brain. A study once showed that the region of the brain responsible for memory was much larger in licensed black cab drivers than the average Joe’s.

Black cabbie hopefuls must then pass a written test and a series of oral exams before they can get their licence. They’re also trained in First Aid, CPR and emergency driving to keep their passengers safe.

ah, Heathrow Express is only a 20 minute ride into London's centre from the airport (the tube takes over an hour)

The centre of London is not owned by the Queen.
The taxi driver is an immigrant. And all non-white immigrants to Britain are viscously anti-British.
