Learning any Slavic language will help you learn others because they share many cognates and have similar grammar, but you're overstating the thing. As a Polish speaker, I couldn't understand much of any spoken Czech, although I could decipher simple written sentences. Russian, forget about it.

I speak 3 of the ones you mentioned fluently and I'm calling BS on this one. Speaking Polish would barely help you when you want to have a meaningful conversation with a Czech person... you'd probably keep asking each other what exactly the other person meant and then switch to English.
