Hey folks! Are you for or against having a fresh start in a new season?

For people that only play on the weekends and can't afford to play more than 4 hours a week, this is terrible.

My friend and I were talking about it and we both agreed that if D4 seasons last 3 months and it ends up taking 2-3 months of grinding to get everything "done" (collect all the timed-season rewards, etc), then we probably won't bother playing seasons. One of the things I loved about D3 was that you could knock out all the "objectives" in 1-2 weeks and be done. Sometimes I'd play longer than that if I was having a good time with a particularly strong character that season, but being able to knock it out in a couple weeks and move on to other games or other real life stuff was fantastic. I quit WoW because of how much of a time-sink it was trying to keep up with even a small percentage of the content. I don't want D4 to end up feeling like the WoW grind.

Game developers in general need to stop acting like their game is the only game that exists and therefore needs to have enough content/busy-work to make you feel the need to grind it 24/7.

Heartbroken to hear about the resets. Been playing avidly for over a month and thought I was working towards something. I’ve literally lost all interest and won’t be playing it ever again.

Simple solution for both parties is seasonal ladder you have to start a new character and no ladder for players who don’t wanna start over

Game is just too big for resets each 3 months, i have now 90 hours since release and just finished leveling all regions to 4 and hit level 62 on my char. I am not ready to do all this grind every 3 months. Its too time consuming

I loved seasons in D3, but I could also just spend a day or two to get max level and get back to the part I enjoyed about the seasons. I am worried about how long it will take with D4 even with a buff. Another part of the leveling is that the difficulties work entirely different in D4, enemies are level locked to higher difficulties whereas in D3 we could play at a higher level for more exp which also helped us. Item three is that there isn't an Official way to grind content endlessly to level up in D4 (dungeon reset bug isn't intended and is a bug). In D3 we had a portal which would just generate us a different rift each time with randomized enemies and layouts and it was as simply as just clicking a pylon in town to get to without any frustrating horse adventures and treks in between.
As for the renown grind unless they let us kill elites or enemies for renown I would hate to have to do ANY of it again. The gameplay I play ARPGs for is the killing enemies getting loot part not the "Adventuring across wide open maps and talking to NPCs for 'exciting' fetch quests" part. If I wanted those I would go play an MMO or something like Valheim which the game BUILT around those features. We are going to be (hopefully) doing dozens of seasons and those beautiful sceneries and unique quests are going to be hated VERY fast if they are required to keep up with everyone else.

i really think the divide on how good seasons are for you depends on how much time you spend on the game. if you play a ton (already have a level 80+ on the game by now), you'll like seasons. people who will take a year to reach 100 will be unlikely to care for restarting with a season.

My thought is to see what Season 1 is like as the Devs intended. Then make a judgement after that season as to what works, and what doesn't. I loved D3's Seasons.

I was so scared to try seasonal in D3 that I almost never tried it. I decided to give it a shot because I liked one of the cosmetics they had and soon realized how much fun and refreshing gear sets were. I never missed a season since then. I also love how you can find yourself in a community too people that come back for each season its nice to see them every season.

The main draw of Season for me, in D3, were the rewards. The class/set dungeons. The cosmetic rewards. I really liked those.

Getting a dungeon completed and then having three pieces of your endgame class set instantly drop into your inventory made it so much fun. You could see your character getting incredibly OP as you progressed through the season. It also gave me an opportunity to try out other classes.

Seasons are fine and should definitely be in the game. I'm not a fan of the battlepass being tied to the season only though. I think it would be good if those who did not want to participate in a season had a way to progress the battlepass too.

After farming full renown in all zones in my first character (Rogue), there's 0% chance i would do it again. If i have to farm all over again in the season, i will play first season to check the new stuff and not gonna play D4 again.

The main problem is starting a new season a month after release

It's so funny to me that I already asked myself that question over 20 years ago, when ladder comes up in D2. " Why I am FORCED to start from Scratch?“ If I wanted to have a fresh feeling I was able to create a new character all the time. When ever I wanted.

@rhykker Renown should be added to public events, world bosses, hell tide turn ins on the seasonal realm. The stuff they want us to do and enjoy. even if it was 5 renown per example at least you are "playing the game you want to / living your fantasy" just a thought.

I don't like resets. It's acceptable only if the leveling and grind are exceptionally good and fun, and so far in D4 I don't think it's nearly fun enough, especially due to their decision to reset renown. Unless renown is cross-season, and seasonal mechanic is good, I don't know if I'll stick with D4 for long even tho I desperately want to.
As for your point about Seasons being fun in D3 - For me personally, they were fun, because there was no bullshit like renown. And let's be honest, leveling up and gearing up in D4, grinding that renown, will take like 10-20 times more time than it takes to get to peak power in D3. Also, D3 allowed free respec which allowed you to basically experiment as much as you want and do whatever with no consequences.
I am not going to go through a leveling process, and put myself through the absolutely inhumane form of torture which is renown farming ever again, no matter what.

So there is an option to skip the campaign with the season, is it worth doing?

Seasonal characters are moved to the eternal realm once the season ends, and we only have 10 character slots. I see this being an issue, as you will inevitably not be able to hold on to all your characters you have put time and effort into.
