I wanted to see the part where he runs into something or someone and he screams "I'm trying to get some food for my cranky girlfriend" I was dead. Lol

Mai is a character. Moody, edgy, with a sense of depression (?) and apathy. Zuko does not only see past that, he truly accepts her. He could have gone off, could have stayed back and not go to the party at all. Would Azula try to convince him to go? I don't think so. Yet he went, to be with her. "I know" he says, because he knows Mai does not like that, she may not be sociable at all so she hates being there. But he sits with her, so she won't be alone, so she might be able to feel some reassurance that someone is there with her- for her. That's a moment where we can tell that Zuko truly, deeply cares for her. Or maybe it's just me.
