Who is Ron Spomer
For 44 years I’ve had the good fortune to photograph and write about my passion – the outdoor life. Wild creatures and wild places have always stirred me – from the first flushing pheasant that frightened me out of my socks in grandpa’s cornfield to the last whitetail that dismissed me with a wag of its tail. In my attempts to connect with this natural wonder, to become an integral part of our ecosystem and capture a bit of its mystery, I’ve photographed, hiked, hunted, birded, and fished across much of this planet. I've seen the beauty that everyone should see, survived adventures that everyone should experience. I may not have climbed the highest mountains, canoed the wildest rivers, caught the largest fish or shot the biggest bucks, but I’ve tried. Perhaps you have, too. And that’s the essential thing. Being out there, an active participant in our outdoor world.

Love the ttsx . Shoot well and kill great .

Barnes copper bullets, including the original TSX hollow point, are simply deadly on deer. And with small kids, I don't have to worry about any lead contamination. It's the only bullet I shoot now.

Ron, almost all the Barnes TTSX bullets I have used to take game in Africa are pass-throughs. The penetration is always really deep and kills quickly.

I haven't used it in 270, but my 6.5 Creedmoor Weatherby Mark V loves the 120-grain CXs. Sub-MOA at 100, and a reliable load for whitetail, mulies and pronghorn. But it still can't hold a candle to the TTSX or the LRX. They group better in my rifle, and the down-range reliability is a noticeable improvement with the Barnes bullets.

We need a TTSX versus LRX comparison. And maybe throw in a CX too. To poop on.

i use TSX and TTSX in most of my rifles. From 5.56 and 308 to 338LM.

Just loaded some ttsx in 30-06 for my son. Anxious to see how well they group. I think that the lead loss is more due to galling rather than a sandpaper effect but the result is the same.

I was getting sub moa with the TTSX in 7mm-08 out of my Tikka. I've always been a ballistic tip man but I think I'll hunt with that combo this coming season.

I love the 150gr TTSX. Deer, black bear, elk, moose, it just plain works. Not even pushing it hard @ 3100fps from a 300 WSM.

Great explanation. Learning a lot Ron. Keep em coming.

TSX and TTSX bullets have always been the most accurate bullets I've loaded for.

Only bullet I use for medium to large game. Barnes ttsx.

Hope that abraded/vapourised lead stays in the wound. If a fragment enters a blood vessel, it could go anywhere. I really like light for calibre TSX & TTSX bullets (110 - 120 gn in 7-08), and I keep strictly under 200 yds.

At what velocity (low) do they stop working well?

I like my bullets to come apart the parts of bullet cut and do damage and make it bleed 🩸.

And you probably end up consuming that lead right off the barbecue.

All we are "allowed" to use in Pennsylvania are just simple lead core and nose bullets. Thats what we get for not telling money hungry "Game Wardens " to eat shit
