How to Update Rooted Samsung Galaxy Devices (Galaxy S4, Note 2, S3, S2, Note, Nexus & More)

When you root a device you lose the ability to get OTA updates or if you do you will lose root after updating, this is what you need to do to update a rooted device while preserving root access. With this method you can update your Phone/Tablet to the latest Firmware with root access. Your flash counter will not be affected.

FIXES:
1. If the phone reboots after flash without going into the mobile odin blue android logo screen, just go back to mobile odin and repeat the steps.

2. If the phone reboots and you get stuck at the blue android logo, reboot and try again.

3. If you still are stuck on the blue android logo you need to use PC Odin to flash stock firmware and root again.

if you are on stock or stock based custom roms, you might boot back just fine... there is a chance you might get stuck in a bootloop... try doing it w/o checking both, if stuck in a bootloop you will have to clear both manually by going into recovery (vol up home power)

am not affiliated with the developer in case ur wonderin :) chainfire, the developer is the reason for rooting advancements on the note, s3 and note 2 (to my knowledge) he has done a lot of work and I really believe he deserves the money and thats y I didnt pull an apk of the net and bought the app instead :)

flash stock via pc odin and then root again, when I made the video mobile odin on reboot would not flash the firmware on the note 2... so try mobile odin if you get the same error then use pc odin instead... as for 4.2 no idea buddy

Great video. I liked and subscribed. One question though. in the video you downloaded the file onto ur computer then transferred it to the phone. Cant you just download the firmware directly to the phone or is it downloaded to computer because the original file is compressed? Great job, again, on the video. this is a great tutorial, congrants, but i actually have a question before i go ahead and do this. i got the samsung galaxy s3 model SCH-R530M and i have 4.0.4 android version, as soon as i got it, i rooted it and i have been working just fine with it until the updates for the new firmware were released by my phone company which is Metro PCS a USA phone company, so i tried to updated launch the updates submitted by the company and the phone would reboot and show the android logo and a % bar
