Just saw this video and as someone who has practiced Judo for several years I can tell that Chadi went easy on Rokas.

It seems like Chadi went light, and then was caught off guard for doing so. Once that happened though he appeared to keep a similar intensity, he made a slight adjustment by throwing more attacks. It appears Chadi gains the upper hand dictating the pace from there on out. The video on Chadi’s page of the second day makes it look like he was prepared for Rokas attacks on the feet and made for more one sided sparring. With that being said the first throw in this video shows somethings about Aikidos application in a live scenario. Rokas utilized surprise and a functional technique to make it work. Very entertaining and would love to see more of the Aikido VS judo match ups.

Yay! I was looking for this awhile ago. Thanks! I appreciate what you're doing for Aikido and Martial Arts in general.

This is great, I think the whole ''aikido functional or not'' situation is getting more and more interesting, This is how you do it, slow and steady, train properly, think critically and give ideas and inspiration to others, Rokas is becoming a proper Martial Arts thinker, love it ✌

This is good, it shows that the level and experience of the practitioner makes a difference in combat. I’d love to see more of this. I follow you both well done Gents!

Judo went really light on him. If you started dragging him around and tagging his foot he'd have nothing. I'm not saying Aikido doesn't work, just Judo trains in a much more efficient manner. Any competition Judoka would drag the floor with many people.

This was more interesting than just the commentary because here I get a feel for how the battle actually plays out. It's the difference between watching a game and watching the highlights.

Interesting is I see basically no combinations on judo part.

Great job Rokas, you had some good defences to Chadis throws. To be honest that in itself is extremely positive and just as valuable (if not more) as you being able to take him down.

This doesn't look like any fight I've seen in a Steven Seagal movie. :)

This is great. In my oppinion this is a real sparing not a fight and it s a good chance to compare your martial art with another martial art. I also had a chance to try randori with Aikido black belt some 15 years ago and it was very fun.
Keep posting videos, I enjoy watching them :)
Just a heads up: Timing for kata guruma wasn't right, he's right leg was far from you

Rokas, in 30 or 40 years, when you are teaching the new Aikido to your students, you will be able to look back on this journey, this moment, as the moment where it all started coming together. I am so proud of your bravery and your progress. Shoulder to shoulder we ride, OSS!

In my opinion, both the original judo and aikido focus a lot on guiding the opponent to a position that lose his own balance. I think you do quite well to defense against judo moves, but seems you usually defend by counteracting your opponent's move instead of trying to guide him to a unfavorable position. I think It is also difficult to apply aikido techniques if your opponent is prepared, some strikes to distract him may be necessary before applying joint lock techniques.

It looks so fun to be able to spar someone and just flow as if dancing!

This is the part of your journey where you blend the traditional with the functional. Even though I personally think Bruce Lee is very overrated, one quote he says that always resonated with me was "Absorb what is useful and discard what is useless. It is about daily decrease, not daily increase" In other words, you're discovering everything from your aikido that works and merging it with your MMA training. This is how you make your style uniquely yours. Congratulations Rokas, you've come full circle

Please note that Chadi is using competition judo ie. no standing chokes, joint locks or strikes not blocking the face or manipulating the head with hands.
