This tech whole name is "big if true" 😂

Update. They found out it was not true recently in a published article

UPDATE: It was NOT. It is NOT a superconductor.

However, it launched huge interested into the field. In the long run, this elevated interest might be the reason, more superconductors are found, and maybe even an ambient one.

Saw this a while ago. The articles also said that they were yet to have their finding verified

Rethinking the modern world from scratch sounds terrifying, but very exciting.

I remain very skeptical as it fails several tests, but I hope it is real.

Update: turns out it's not a room temperature super conductor

Unfortunately, the University of Maryland’s Condensed Matter Theory Center have published a collection of articles from around the world stating that no one’s been able to reproduce it. The International Center for Quantum Materials states evidence that the “levitation” to LX-99 being ferromagnetic. The Verge posted an article about this with links to the various sources

I'll wait for the final results. In the meantime, I'll sleep

So sad it didn't seem to be legit, but hopefully the excitement will get some new developments in the field. The blend does also seem potentially interesting for other uses.

I'm glad he explained WHY it was so important or I seriously would be totally lost

Small update folks, a new article from nature just dropped in fully confirming that this is just an accident and was due to the cuprous sulphide impurity present in the material

An ambient superconductor would only work if the material can be used in wires. NK-99 is a ceramic, so even if it's confirmed to be a sc it's too brittle for many applications. Still a step forward in research.

Hi from the future so it was a resistor with properties that made it look like a super conductor. Keep looking guys

It’s called LK-99 for anyone interested in looking into it more

Imagine this, electricity is sent hundreds of km with pretty much 100% efficiency; and then a genius throws away 40% of that to wirelessly charge their phone because they couldn't be bothered with plugging in a cable

For people who don’t know: superconductors are basically wires that don’t lose any electricity when it flows through them, superconductors are usually very cold, like around -200 C so it’s not practical to use them sometimes and if we could create room temperature ones it would revolutionize all computers
