Sony Xperia XZ: the new flagship cameraphone

Introduced at IFA 2016 in Berlin, Sony’s Xperia XZ triples down on camera technology with a new laser autofocus, RGBC-IR white balance sensor, and its traditionally strong 23-megapixel imaging sensor. The Japanese company’s new flagship even has a dedicated shutter button. Plus there’s a Sony Xperia X Compact that brings the same camera system to a smaller size and price.

Honestly, I really like the way Sony is approaching the Smartphone market. I personally believe that they focus on the right things for the average user. I mean, we all here are probably heavy users and seek ultimate performance from our phones at a certain price, and hence all the hate in the comments. But I think that most people will appreciate mostly things like dual front facing speakers, a great camera, the added battery life coming from the lower resolution screens, and the great (in my opinion) design. After all, 3GB of Ram are plentiful for an OS like Android, and the Snapdragon 820 is top of the line while the 650 is more than enough for the 720p screen of the Sony Xperia X Compact. And a highly appreciated added bonus: their software and their support for their devices. Clever, clever little bastards, they even know how to advertise their products. Kudos to Sony.

1080p is more than enough for tiny 5 or 6 inch smart phones screen. The resources saved is vital for better performance in terms of battery and GPU load

I'm actually really feeling the compact. Phones are so good now it's hard to spend a ton of money on a bad phone, and I feel like that phone wouldn't make anyone feel like they're missing out.

The Verge videos are always top notch, so what I'm about to say could be considered nit-picking. To bring your videos to the next level you should consider recording and uploading at 60 fps. A higher frame rate isn't always necessary, but in the case of your videos, it's a must. You guys do a lot of slow pans of objects with sharp lines and features, which makes the low frame rate very noticeable. Keep up the great work!

old, LG G4 and V10 had all those camera features already. laser autofocus and color detector for white balance

3 GB is small for Snapdragon 820.
This is like what LG did with their V10; it is a great phone have having Snapdragon 808 on 4GB RAM could mostly keep up the Flagship performance but sometimes struggled to keep up.
