Sam strikes me as a well intentioned dude. I hope the world becomes a better place because of AI. I hope Sam is right.

What's the point? The key ingredients are open source, and whatever regulations they come with won't apply worldwide, only in the US.

I can see countries like China, Russia, India, and many more going full steam towards a non-regulated super 'product' to be the first country to achieve it.

Honestly, I see this as the same as the race for nuclear weapons, except times have changed, and people want more regulations and laws to feel 'safer' and have some feeling of control.

But imagine a not-so-friendly country achieving first an AI so smart and powerful that it can literally shut down a country, like making you unable to use your nukes and any sort of defense systems. What do you do now? Ask for help? Release secret weapons?

And it might be extreme cases scenarios, but don't tell me you're 100% sure that there isn't a country leader out there who would not get a little cockier if he had that sort of technology to force some of his decisions on others.

And i can't help to think about Hiroshima and Nagazaki.

Previous forms of AI and software-improvements had already automated away most career skills I went to school for. Now this new form of AI threatens the remaining careers I've been considering. No one can explain to me how I'm supposed to survive, in the coming years, as this stuff keeps improving.. People like me will eventually riot, if policymakers don't create an AI Dividend or UBI soon.

In a scenario where one worker with AI tools can replace 30, we'd need only around 5.33 million out of the current 160 million U.S. workers to perform the same work. This could potentially displace approximately 154.67 million workers if applied across all sectors. How many new jobs will really be created by AI? Would it be enough? What happens when a startup with 5 workers can put a company with 150 workers out of business. 5 million employed out of a country with 330, 000, 000 people. I live in L.A. there is already an alarming number of people living on the street. Every year it just gets worse and worse. Where is the faith that anyone will truly do anything to help those who will be displaced?

Get as much hard drive space as you can and get the most powerful gpu you can find. Download as many available open source models you can. If they crackdown on open source or hardware you are gonna have to ride on another big tech company making you dependent on them.

A clever way to address AI concerns, forward it to "international organizations ", this could take years....

DUDES, all of you are still five steps behind whereas I'm already seeing Sam Altman joining the Government to lead the Agency that will create regulations for AI... He is paving the way for his next role... mastermind plan!

I don’t think U.S citizens realize how much power we have..we can standup to this type of stuff.

His comments about it not being self aware and to not empathize with it don't seem too logical.
