Current Joys - Fear | Audiotree Live

Nick Rattigan is the visual artist, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter behind yelpy, post-punk inflected indie bands Surf Curse and Current Joys. He created Current Joys as a way to unify his mutual love for film and music, and subsequently directed multiple music videos for the project. The grimy, thunderous songs themselves exist to free Rattigan from generalized anxiety as they embody the cyclical entrapment of the disorder while offering catharsis for those who share his experience.

Theres no song on earth that eher gave and still gives me as much strength as this one. It‘s crazy. One song kills my suicidal feels for one second, because u stop feeling alone. Haha, what a stereotypic comment one would say…. I love this man.

The instrumental intensity which starts after his so strong, passionate, honest and well formulated and placed words/sentences, each word, even the word which he leaves out at the end of the first one, ahhh. Its just more than i could have ever wished for in one song. And there are so many others of urs which i just completely can relate. Ur passion is incredible! <3

I feel kind of bad feeling this way, because I support this dude and this friends, and respect his vision and art, but I really really prefer the sound of his sounds live with full band compared to his bedroom DIY recordings on bandcamp. They just seem to come alive to me, as if his bedroom recordings are a rough draft or storyboard, and these live versions are the actual film, and finished product. I hold out hope, that maybe he will produce some other material as Current Joys that will sound more like this. But love regardless.
