These scenes maybe dark, but they're also some of the most memorable scenes in these particular Disney movies.

Honestly could've just put Frollo's screen time on here for an entry. Probably the most twisted Disney villain as he believes he's actually a good guy...

I miss when Disney wasn't afraid to get scary in animated movies. Heck, I miss Disney just making animated movies period!

Another one: In Alice and Wonderland, the little oyster kids are eaten off screen, which I find to be dark.

Poor Hiro. Not only is the same day he gets accepted into that school the same day he lost his brother, it happened in front of him 🥺

Also, Pinocchio is freaking nightmare fuel

Simba: “🎵I can’t wait to be king!🎵”.

Disney: Real nice wish y’a got there Simba. It’d be a shame.... if it came true

Honorable mention: the vehicle chase scene from “Oliver and Company.” Two dogs get electrocuted by the railroad tracks, and their owner is killed by an oncoming train.

The intro scene of The Fox and the Hound was also very sad. Tod's mother was running away from hunters and in the final moments she realized that she can't escape. She placed her baby in a safe place and drew the hunter away. Two shots can be heard afterwards.
EDIT: By the way, you can spot a place in the intro where the movie will end. Nice foreshadowing.

As a kid I never understood what happened to the village in Mulan
But now that I’m an adult, I’m chilled by what happened to those poor people

What was really sad about Tadashi's death was that the person he ran into the building to save was never in any danger.

What is more bad about tadashi's death is that it was revealed that Callaghan was actually the one who set up the fire, letted tadashi inside of there, and left him to die, and didn't do anything to save him at all !

As a child there was nothing more traumatic for me than the death of Mufasa and little Simba trying to wake him up. Although I use to watch the show over and over again, as it was my favourite, I always cried at this particular scene. You nailed it!

I feel like we are all ignoring the fact that “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” is one a Disney's darkest animated movies, however it's rated G.
