The original It's Complicated was soft GF trying to reach out to soft BF. This version feels more like the player trying to reach out to Sayori. Maybe it's just me, but this song has this almost frantic energy to it at times, like you're trying desperately to catch up to her, but you just can't quite make it. Just like how no matter what you say or do, you can't save Sayori. Makes me feel things, man.

even though i don't know much about sayori, i can clearly tell that this is her entire character/personality as a song. it has an upbeat, happy rhythm and melody, but said melody is in a minor key. this already solidifies the fact that she tries to act happy and cheerful, but has some dark secrets and a terrible mental condition that impedes on her life constantly, just as the minor key impedes on the otherwise happy song. the way she sings it also feels extremely sentimental, like she's learned how to communicate with BF through singing and is explaining to him how hard her life is. not to mention the small details like the fact that some of the held notes she sings start to fade out or wobble a little bit, almost like she's gonna start crying as she sings, but is keeping it together for one last song.

Why do I keep coming back to this song? It's so The long notes just hit super different, the utau-ness of certain notes before the solo...I cry when I hear this song.
