Ted Cruz WHINES About Baristas Getting Student Debt Relief

"Critics went espresso on the insults against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) after he bashed coffee shop workers as “slacker baristas” for not paying off their student loans.

On his “Verdict With Ted Cruz” podcast earlier this week, the conservative called young working Americans “slackers,” who will benefit from the Biden administration’s student loan forgiveness plan. President Joe Biden announced on Wednesday that up to $20,000 in student loan debt will be canceled for some borrowers.

Cruz suggested that if young people could “get off the bong for a minute” they might manage to “head down” to the polling station and vote.

“If you are that slacker barista who wasted seven years in college studying completely useless things, now has loans and can’t get a job, Joe Biden just gave you 20 grand,” Cruz said on the podcast.

“You know, maybe you weren’t gonna vote in November, and suddenly you just got 20 grand!” he added."

Every time I go into my local Starbucks those kids are working their asses off dealing with the line inside, the lines in drive thru and online orders all the same time. I waited tables while I went to college. I know a lot of people who did this too. Working like this is not easy ... it's not a "slacker" job. Add onto that earning a degree and then spending years trying to pay that debt incurred in the process. Cruz and people like him have no idea what it means to earn a living!

What if you are that hard working barista, working to pay off the debt you got from seeking an education at almost any university that is steadily raising prices while cutting quality, only to find out the market doesn’t value you or your education & you now have crippling debt for trying to do better, but only getting chewed up in the machine of capitalism that sees you as a blob whose only value is to be squeezed for money until you have nothing left to give. Ted Cruz, thanks for belittling people for trying to improve their lives, sorry they upset by not having the decency to freeze to death like your constituents that you left to die while you beached yourself at a resort on their money!
