Multiplication - when you add a number to itself x times 2*x = 2+2 x times
Exponation - when you multiply a number to itself x times 2^x = 2*2 x times
Tetration - when you power a number to itself x times 2(te)x = 2^2 x times
Pentation = when you tetrate a number to itself x times 2(pe)x = 2(te)2 x times

So if x = 2
2x2 = 2+2
2^2 = 2x2 = 2+2
2(te)2 = 2^2^2 = 2x2x2x2 = 2+2+2+2+2+2+2+2
2(pe) e = 2(te)2(te)2 = 2^2^2^2^2^2 = 2x2………..

It’s unlikely you’d need anything past tetration which is used in computer science

Exponentiation is good enough for most situations (physics and finance)
