An exception would be if the tree owner knew the tree was dead, or was in danger of falling, but didn't act. Then he would likely be liable for neighbor's damage. But there is no mention of that in this report.

“Adulting” is when you take responsibility for “your” tree falling into someone else’s yard.

Like he said people. The owner is NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACT OF NATURE.. Just because i have trees don't mean i'am responsible for a IDOT BUILD THINGS AROUND IT, , THE TREE WAS THERE B4 they started building next to it. They should know trees will fall

This just happened to me.. I have a tree in my yard. And a storm came and broke a branch off and crushed two of his cars.. I had no idea the tree was gonna do that. Plus the storm was only 5 to 10 minutes long.. luckily his car insurance is supposed to cover that..

When neighbors recognize the tree is a threat, an arborist does NOT determine liability. If someone calls an arborist, then that opens the door to high liability and risk to nearby property. Parties have recognized the high risk.

I’m sorry but I would feel obligated to clean up my tree if it fell in my neighbor’s yard. I don’t care what the law says.
