There is anoter way for an elevator. You need a command block and use the commend "/tp @s ( enter the coordinates of the second floor)"
Then put a pressure plate on top and when you press on it you get teleported to the coordinates.

Well, the problem with the password door is because when you go in, you have to re-enter the passcode to close it so I would just suggest maybe making a clock that keeps it open for a few seconds and then closes it

The password door is not sequential. You can't also change it unless you change the redstone construction.
