Beaux is BACK!

As a dog trainer, people always ask what the best way to eliminate destructive or other unwanted behaviors. While most people realize that controlling our dog's environment is key, very few people realize that THIS ONE LITTLE THING is the best thing you can do to discourage your dog from being destructive and your dog will be happier too!

What do pulling on a leash, jumping on people, barking for "no reason", and destroying property all have in common? The SAME solution!

I'm happy that so many people without dogs enjoy my videos too!

Thank you for saying that. My goal is to reach average people and show them how to achieve exceptional results, not just the dog training hobbyist. Too often, people too caught up in the mechanics and fail to keep the vibe and energy flowing while training. I'd like to think that's where my strength is as a teacher:)

He wasn't nervous I understand everything he is doing, he was hesitant cause he was being slow and calm to have the dog think and process what was going on. Good job Zak

Thanks Jamie!

I think it's wonderful that companies like PetFlow are putting their ad dollars behind positive training. By having sponsors for my videos it only allows me to make better content while keeping my videos free. Thanks for the compliments:) Glad to have you here!

I'm very happy to hear that! I'm proud to have them on board as a sponsor. Good stuff, good prices, and great service.

I like to watch a lot of the positive reinforcement videos on youtube. I enjoy your energy and approach to some behavioural issues, I think what you bring to the dog training world is pretty revolutionary and I love that you share with us. My biggest issue, both with my new puppy and my seasoned agility competitor is staying calm and quiet in the crate.

I hired a local dog trainer to teach myself and my pups. Adopting adult dogs was so different than getting them at birth! This trainer used the rewsrd technique but also used the spray and harsh leash correction methods with attendant harsh collar. That didnt last long with me. They did not do well at all. Found Zak's videoes and what a difference! More pain and fear (or any) does not make a good and happy dog. My babies are so much happier and better after a couple of months! Thank you Zak! Wish I would have looked and found your videos before I hired someone who wasn't right for training.

"My job is not to train your dogs, my job is teach people like you how to teach your dogs."

I would like to show this to my neighbour because they train their dog like a dog that isin't being trained.

Releasing your dog's energy level from both the mental and physical points does help. I've worked with countless of dogs of the years and what works best is to make sure that your dog is secured in a room that cannot be a danger to himself. Giving him a toy to occupy him also works. Types of toys do play big parts. Making sure that your dog is properly drained of his energy is also important! This will give him the perfect time to refuel while you are away for the day!

Depends on what kind of growling we are talking about. I'd need to be present to advise.

I have a GSD/Husky and he is extremely high energy. He doesn't really like fetching but this video just gave me some insights on what to do about it. And the comments about digging and chewing are also a big help. I will try to exercise him more both mentally and physically.

Biggest issue i have is that she believes listening to me is optional. she listen's most of the time in the house but rarely outside of the house unless i make her stop and there are no distractions.

Great! I just rescued a sharpull who I'd like to teach to fetch. I think the idea a tired dog is a happy dog is absolutely true. Thanks so much for sharing.

Zak, I just want to thank you. As a Veterinary Behaviorist new first time dog owners need to here the info about why and how dogs learn best more than once. You are saving me the time it would take to make my own video. So many folks want you to be briefer in your explanations. I want you to keep explaining for beginners. Maybe as time goes on & requests for the same problems come in you could make videos with of good  technique but with more repetitions of the training sessions, beginning, middle and end. I find that the mistakes the dog and trainers make during training session are as helpful to clients and the perfect "transformed dog at the end of training. When I make a physical mistake during a training session and point it out,   the clients laugh and take a big sigh of relief. I add "No-one is perfect at dog training, but that's OK. The dog will learn anyway if you can get it 80% of the time. Ignore the mistakes that you and the dog make, reward the desired behavior and the dog will love you for it.

Can you make a video of dog's you see that have been trained with E-collars, prongs etc, where the inhibition of the bad behavior has quit working.
I live in an area of USA where dominance and pain are still popular methods. I like to have a variety of education materials to put out there on Force-Free training to counter the volume of the later.

Best regards and Happpy Holidays to you and your crew.

"We try to let them out and play but they just stand at the door"
So... one problem could be that you are inside yourself and not playing with them outside which is essential in raising an animal like that but thats just me.

It was great to see the follow up with Beaux. He's engaging with you, and seems very comfortable with you working close to him now.
I like your method of teaching tug/drop it rules with out food, by quickly moving away from him unless he drops the toy. This is a nice use of negative punishment and will try this out. I've always used food exchange for this. It's great to learn something new which I often do watching your videos. - Heidi Hurdy

I love that you don't emphasize the "wolfiness" of dogs. They don't have a whole lot of psychology in common with their cousins!

Again, Zak to the rescue.  A tired dog is a happy dog.  Breeze can almost walk perfectly right after 20 min of chasing the ball.  I am so glad to give her the chance to walk correctly, she learns best from her success.  Good Dog!
