Pop Quiz: Which Tempo is Best for the 100 Backstroke?

preview_player
Показать описание
Which of these swimmers is using the best stroke rate for a 100 meter or 100 yard backstroke?

🚨 SPOILERS 🚨
Swimmer A 67 SR
Swimmer B 90 SR
Swimmer C 100 SR
Swimmer D 72 SR

Depending on the meet, you might see this large of variance in stroke rates in a single heat. Most of the time (as long as the athlete can maintain their rate), the faster stroke rates win in the 100 backstroke.

Did you guess correctly?

100 strokes/minute is what nearly every world class backstroker is swimming at these days, with a small variance +/- 5 SPM from what I've seen.

If you're using mode 1 on a FINIS tempo trainer, you can also set it to :60 (stroke every .60 seconds).

Does anyone notice so many back strikers have double jointed elbows? Makes it great to get a wide catch but is horrible for freestyle catch. Just something interesting. Always wondered if it was just a random trait in some backstrokers or if people who have that just choose to do backstroke because it makes more sense at that point.

It depends on the swimmer. I also prefer D, but that's my personal opinion. In my opinion it depends on the athlete, when he reaches a certain level he builds the swim that best suits his needs. However, we can give him some exercises to improve.

Nessuno tra tutti quattro fanno bene! Tutti hanno spalle affondate, con una remata "lateralizzata", nessuno non fa movimento di rotazione del corpo e dei fianchi lungo l'asse longitudinale del corpo(rollio).🙁
