What if I told you that some of the minds behind the first iPhone, and many other silicon valley veterans, are now working to replace it?

They believe technology went in the wrong way, and now they want to fix this

They have yet to show anything to the public, but some investors had many nice things to say about them

This is Humane, and in this video, I'll show you my concept of how the hardware and the UI of their device could be

it’s fun watching videos of what people think the device is, how it’ll work, the feature set and concept renders etc.

just know that the team is very thoughtful about all of the aspects you mention, and as with anything new, R&D takes time, effort, and iteration 🙂

The date on the projected hand is April 1st. Maybe they are trying to fool us? haha just a thought

looking back, this is way better than the actual product.

Sounds like they have a solution in search of a problem. By the time they have a prototype, Apple and Samsung will be working on Gen 3 of their AI-enabled phones.

For the love of Imhotep, PLEASE look up Pranav Mistry's sixth sense technology. He even did a Ted Talk. I've been in love with it and waiting for over a decade. AWAKEN!

I love this idea. I am sick of all those offensively bigger and bigger screens with hyper-sharpness and Superman clarity. Who needs all that? It's an "assistant" device that's supposed to help you with things. If you want to watch a movie go and watch it on a proper TV.

This is by far the best option; better than glasses.

Really well thought out video as always! The only problem with this design for me is that I'm just a huge disbeliever in voice control. What if I'm in a public space and want to text my friend? A super common scenario, but voice control makes it incredibly difficult, and using hand gestures just seems like a more cumbersome way to do the same thing. I think the only pros to this device would be the ambient computing possibilities (which could be implemented into phones if manufacturers really tried - pixels are already somewhat doing that), and the prevention of addiction. However I think the only reason this device would prevent addiction is because it would make some things incredibly easy to do, and most things super difficult to do, which isn't exactly a positive lol

Anyways was a fun watch and your renders are great (possibly a missed opportunity though to have a small cutout in the top left of the LED ring light though, like the Humane logo)

This paired with AR glasses with different modes of immersion will pair well.

This video showcases too much user input.

I’ve theorized for a while that the end goal is a small forms factor, and AR final goal. This aligns well.

Why would anyone want to go from super bright and color-accurate OLED panels to a distorted, jittery projection on your palm lol There’s just no advantage to getting rid of a screen when you will have to have a shitty substitute on your hand—which used to hold the screen in the first place—anyway. The human hand has been used for holding things for a million years or so, so it’s completely natural and effortless for us to grip our phone. Gesture based navigation has also been proven again and again to simply be too inaccurate and just plain irritating. This ain’t it and it it’s real than it’ll be an epic failure on the market

no way this is going to be preferable to Apple Vision Pro 3-5th gen and especially when the product starts to resemble more closely a pair of ray bans, etc.

user interface is too clunky and cumbersome in comparison to apple’s “vision”

I personally do not think smart glasses will replace phones. I think they could, but no tech company will allow that. Because use ability wise, people need some form of physical communicator. Meaning something they can touch with their hand. I would prefer an Apple Watch, AirPods, and glasses. Because that gives me the physical touch still. But I don’t see the phone going anywhere. The phone in essence is the interface for the wearables.

this and phone will be replace by a few models of apple vision down the line when it gets sleeker and affordable

wow that's a really cool concept. but in reality i think it's just going to be a standard android phone with a minimalistic louncher and a ton of marketing lmao
